During your first appointment I will try to learn as much about you as I can and understand why you reached out for therapy. It is always helpful to gather as much history as well as presenting symptoms as possible. Depending on the current situation, a first appointment varies between individuals. Ultimately, your first appointment is whatever you need it to be.
The out of pocket cost for every session is $105.00. Your financial information for payment will be asked for when you schedule your first appointment.
Everyone is different and there is no way to determine a set amount of time that anyone will be "done" with therapy. I have worked with some clients who have met their treatment goals in 2 months and terminated. I have worked with many clients for years and likely will remain in therapy for many more. This will remain an ongoing discussion between us in therapy but ultimately, you have the final say.
Depending on what your needs and concerns are, it is vital that you find a therapist who is equipped to guide you towards your therapeutic goal. Effective therapy identifies the problem and facilitates change that ultimately results in a positive outcome for the client. Narrative therapy uses dialogue and effective communication to not only model healthy interactions and self expression, but also decrease symptoms that are negatively impacting your functioning.
You do not necessarily have to do a consult. However, it is recommended in order to see if I will be a good fit for you. The therapy process, ideally, is long lasting so it is important that you connect with whoever you choose to engage with. With so many therapists available I highly suggest doing a few consults before you make your decision to begin.
